Family child care providers have business, educational, and legal responsibilities that are unique to the industry of family child care. The California Federation of Family Child Care Associations, Inc. was formed as child care leadership recognized that the family provider needed advocates and responsible leadership in order to continue and improve the quality of the family child care environments and to give parents choice. Having formed in 1958, the California Federation was later incorporated in 1973, as the oldest state association in California. It is a non-profit organization. Meeting quarterly, the Federation has over all these years, helped create unity on issues that affect family providers such as legislation, insurance, taxes, education, parental and provider rights and responsibilities, and safety. The Federation focuses on the viability, well being, and success of the profession to ensure quality and the ability to properly meet the needs of the families and children we care for. |

The California Federation has been a leader and strong advocate of the celebration of Family Child Care Provider Week, by promoting the hanging of the Daisy Wreath on the provider’s door and encouraging provider’s to do activities during this week that promote an understanding in the community of licensed Family Child Care. Membership is open to all licensed family child care providers interested in improving their knowledge and responsibility in the field of family child care. Membership allows the provider a discount on family child care insurance, and also helps with scholarships for those members who are eligible.<top> |
